Wydad Casablanca (WAC) was defeated by South African club Kaizer Chiefs (1-0) on Saturday at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg, in a match counting for the fifth day (group C) of the African Football Champions League.

Despite this defeat, the WAC, which preferred to rest its titular players, remains in first place in this group with 10 points, ahead of Kaizer Chiefs and Horoya Conakry, both of which have 8 points. The Guinean club was able to wrest a valuable victory from the clutches of Petro Atletico (1-0).

The WAC will host Petro Atletico on the final day, which will be played next Saturday, while Kaizer Chiefs will travel to Horoya Conakry in a crucial match to win the second qualifying ticket for the next round, which is still up for grabs in this group.
