On Wednesday in Casablanca, two partnership agreements for the development of Marjane Holding’s sourcing from local textile and agri-food manufacturers were signed.

This partnership, which aims to expand Marjane’s sourcing from local textile and agri-food manufacturers, is part of the Industrial Recovery Plan, which is being implemented in accordance with HM King Mohammed VI’s High Instructions.

Marjane will adapt its purchasing policy to the development and support of national manufacturers and will provide them with the logistical means to ensure a global presence for their products, according to the terms of the agreement on local sourcing from textile manufacturers. The company will also develop an annual plan for developing local sourcing from national textile manufacturers, with the technical specifications requested and the quantities targeted by-product, for its permanent offer. Marjane will collaborate with national manufacturers to create seasonal collections (spring-summer and fall-winter) that meet the demands of the Moroccan market.

“The development of sourcing from local manufacturers responds perfectly to the royal vision of reviving the productive sectors and strengthening their capacity to invest and create jobs,” Mr. Elalamy said at the time.

Orders from private principals, particularly from large and medium-sized stores (GMS), he continued, can act as a catalyst in the development of local sourcing, diversification, and upscaling of product offerings that meet the quality and price criteria demanded by Moroccan consumers.

Mr. Azami, for his part, stated that “this signing ceremony reflects Marjane Holding’s total commitment, as a Moroccan actor rooted in its national ecosystem, to play its role as locomotive by collaborating as much as possible in the development of the Moroccan economic fabric, whether at the level of the textile industry or the agro-industry.”

And to add that “we are lucky in Morocco to have industries capable of good performance. By working in synergy with our manufacturers, we show most of the time that we know how to do good things together ”, citing, in this regard, the example of agro-industry, whose market share of local sourcing of products. private labels already represented 65% in 2020.

“We aim to reach 80% of our turnover by 2024. For textiles, we would like to increase our Morocco sourcing from 25% to 75% by 2024,” he said.

As a result of this agreement, a first batch of 13 local sourcing agreements was signed on the occasion, representing an amount of 173 million dirhams (MDH).

As part of the partnership agreement, AMITH undertakes to disseminate the Group’s annual local sourcing development plan to national manufacturers, with the technical specifications requested and the quantities targeted by-product, as well as to identify the operators of the different sectors of the sector able to meet Marjane’s needs. It will also have to prospect with national manufacturers of new segments of textile products to offer to the company in order to enrich its local sourcing and to ensure the global follow-up of the implementation of the partnership between the national manufacturers and Marjane.

Regarding the agreement on local sourcing from manufacturers in the agri-food sector, the Holding will promote “Made in Morocco” and will inform local manufacturers about its needs, in particular quantities, specifications, and delivery schedule.

FENAGRI, for its part, undertakes to establish a list of industrial companies in the sector by-product that can respond to Marjane’s calls for tenders, in consultation with the ministry, to update it and to communicate it periodically to the two partners.

The federation will also set up a communication and awareness program with companies in the sector to make them adhere to the subject of this agreement and to encourage companies to undertake the necessary efforts to comply with the specifications of Marjane Holding by presenting a diversified and satisfactory offer in terms of quality and price.

The ministry will ensure that this development plan for Marjane sourcing is carried out in collaboration with the national manufacturers concerned, in particular by providing the necessary support for their investments in strengthening and modernizing their production capacity. He will also assist Marjane Holding in its prospecting efforts by connecting them with AMITH, FENAGRI, and national textile and agrifood manufacturers.
