Vaccination: El Otmani warns against fake news

The Head of Government Saad Eddine El Otmani, chaired this Thursday the weekly meeting of his team. Speaking on this occasion, he warned against fake news affecting the progress of the national vaccination campaign against Covid-19.

While welcoming the performance of the National Scientific Committee which represents the scientific reference and the reliable source of information in this field, El Otmani recalled that the said committee issued its opinion on the AstraZeneca vaccine, which has sparked controversy, is based on a careful and scientific study on the effects of this vaccine in Morocco and in the world, before approving the continued use of this vaccine in the vaccination process, noting that this opinion is consistent with the position of the World Health Organization (WHO) and that of the European Medicines Agency.

This committee, he added, is recognized for the competence, experience, and expertise of its members who regularly interact with national and international data on the epidemic to conduct professional and scientific analyzes and issue opinions. scientists on which official decisions in the Kingdom are based.

The Chief Executive, on behalf of the citizens, also paid tribute to the health and safety teams and all the stakeholders who contributed to the success of this campaign, which to date has provided approximately 6 million doses, making Morocco the leader of the African continent in terms of vaccination, and a model that has deserved international praise.

He also praised the efforts made to provide more vaccines to Morocco in order to achieve the goal set by the Kingdom, stressing the need to continue to adhere to the precautionary and health measures which were extended at the beginning of this week.

In Otmani, moreover, underlined that while waiting for the achievement of the fixed vaccination objective, which will allow a return to normal life, it is necessary to strictly respect the precautionary and health measures, and to do showing caution in the face of changes in the epidemiological situation.

Requests related to the reduction of precautionary measures submitted by citizens and certain affected sectors are studied with the necessary care by the authorities concerned, in the light of epidemiological developments, at national and international levels, and of the need to protect the country and the safety of citizens, he said, calling on citizens to be more patient during these steps to identify the epidemic.
