ICESCO unveils its strategy on countering violent extremism

The Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) participated in the Moroccan Observatory on Extremism and Violence’s (OMEV) annual International Conference, which was held from February 16 to 18, 2021, in collaboration with the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) and the Rabita Mohammadia des Oulémas, under the theme “The fight against ‘violent extremism’.”

ICESCO was represented at the three-day event by Dr Abdelilah Benarafa, Cultural Advisor to the Director General of ICESCO. He discussed the strategic partnership program uniting ICESCO and Rabita in the field of immunization against extremism. The Conference program includes specialized sessions on the following themes: “Developments in Terrorist Threats: New Responses to New Challenges”; “The New Challenges of Cybersecurity: From Propaganda and Recruitment to Targeting Infrastructures” and “Women and violent extremism: for a new approach that transcends stereotypes” The conference is open to the international community and is open only to members of the European Union and member states of the Beni-IBE.
